Since 2006, Filipina Images took up the baton and has been hard at work creating a balanced image for the filipina on the internet. They worked with Wikipilipinas.org to launch a Filipina Stories contest that could generate great material on the topic of filipina image online or filipinas today. In celebration of Women’s Month in March 2008, Wikipilipinas.org opened a special portal called the Encyclopedia of Philippine Women which will compile and detail the achievements and triumphs of Filipinas everywhere. Filipiniana.net will also host a Philippine Women’s Studies Microsite containing selected scholarly texts, research documents and abstracts, as well as selected literary works from Filipina writers. To kick things off and in line with its advocacy of promoting a more empowered and empowering image of the Filipina, WikiPilipinas partnered with Filipina Images to launch Filipina Stories. The three best essays were selected, and their winning authors were awarded cash prizes of:
